Today’s press handstand lesson with hand balancer @mankejan. . Keep your legs close and your scaps closer..... .... Finding the strength to press off the floor is at least doable now. Have to work on consistency. Handstands are such a great conditioning for the whole body because they exposes strength imbalances immediately. . @gymnasticbodies, @transformgst, @coachbachmann

Mobility Monday . It’s been agony waiting for gyms to reopen I had to get my stall bar fix doing this @gymnasticbodies side lever (human flag) progression on our stall bars. ... . NY is still in a holding pattern regarding gym reopens. Understandably safety against the Coronavirus is the most important consideration. . As a consequence we are working with our clients in the NYC area that request in-person training outdoors and in some cases in-home with proper protection. Now pull up bars are absolute home gym essential if your looking for rounded strength training development. . In this case I’m using the pull up bar for an attachment point for ring dips. . There are endless possibilities with just a few good tools....

Flex Friday . 60lb Kettlebell pistol squat .... Pistol squats are an excellent full range of motion strength builder for the legs. They get at hard to reach areas like the lower hamstring attachment and Achilles and ankle mobility. . Make sure to add pistol squats to your leg day . Standing thoracic extension If it looks like my back is going to split in half that is what it currently feels like in my body as I do these I learned this particular approach from @contorture. Jonathan’s approach is to keep back bends counterbalanced by stretching through the psoas.... . I struggle to keep weight consistently through my heels so I’m going slow to make sure that happens. As much as it sucks this creates balanced tension in the backbend between the front of the hips and lower back. . We teach 2 weekly classes on thoracic extension specifically. .
