Museum Monday - In the 1878, a Venetian lace manufacturer, Michelangelo Jesurum, created the first polychrome lace made with threads of various colors and won t...he gold medal at the Universal Exhibition in Paris. This jewel toned bobbin lace Jesurum collar has been sponsored by a generous patron of the Museum. The center front is seamed to form a deep V and hand-stitched at the shoulders to curve inward. The company sold a wide range of products in addition to lace they manufactured, including Burano needlelace, they made repairs and reproduced antique lace. It operates with different family ownership today. From The Lace Museum collection. See more
