This lovely client came to me seeking tear trough filler. Since she has prominent bags under her eyes, putting filler in the tear trough area could make the bags (fat pads) worse. Fillers are designed to take on water, and sometimes when filler is placed near the fat pad, it can cause it to take on water and swell. Instead, we filled her cheeks with 2 syringes of Voluma using a cannula. Fierce Jawline and Cheeks This beauty wanted a more defined jawline and cheeks. We used 3 syringes of Radiesse to get definition along the zygoma (cheek bone) and the mandible/mandibular angle (jawline). A combination of a cannula and needle was used. A cannula has a blunt tip that is threaded under the skin and the product is distributed more evenly vs a needle. It is also safer and carries less of a chance of bruising as the cannula is less likely to tear blood vessels (i...nstead pushes them out of the way). As you can see, height and definition was added to the Cupid’s Bow, the vermillion boarders were defined and volume added to both the upper and lower lip. Questions? FAQ on fillers answered below! What are Dermal Fillers? How are they different from Botulinum Toxin (ie Botox)? ... Dermal Fillers are injectable gel implants that go under the skin to increase volume. Fillers mostly are hyaluronic acid-based gels, as opposed to Botox, which is a neuromodulator in the form of botulinum toxin, used to interrupt communication between the facial nerves and muscles (Dermal fillers = physical implant, Botox = chemical communication block). Where can I have filler placed? The most popular areas for dermal fillers placement are lips, cheeks, on the jawline, chin, under eyes, and nasolabial folds. Do dermal fillers hurt? The areas to be injected are anesthetized with a topical preparation, so there is minimal discomfort during treatment. There is also lidocaine in the filler itself, which also helps with the discomfort one may experience. What is the procedure like? After a full consult, Victoria will numb the area to be injected. A needle or cannula is placed under the skin and the product is injected. After, you can expect swelling that can last up to 14 days, but usually the worst in the first 3 days. You can also expect bruising that can last 7-10 days after injection. When should I expect to see results? Immediately, although swelling is present for up to 2 weeks. How long will my filler last?
