Sometimes we feel we never left the Nam
The September 11th Victim Compensation Fund was set up in 2001 for those who suffered illness or developed cancer from the toxic cloud that resulted from the te...rrorist attack. In 2019, the Never Forget the Heroes Act extended the fund until 2090. Anyone who was a first responder on-site September 11th, worked, lived or went to school in Lower Manhattan anytime between September 11th, 2001 and May 30, 2002 and have been diagnosed with cancer or respiratory illness, you may be entitled to significant financial compensation. Join the victims who have already filed. It only takes one minute.
I stumbled upon this marker and took this photo while rucking in NYC 4 years ago today. The legendary Canyon of Heroes in downtown NYC runs north on Broadway f...rom Battery Park, which overlooks NY Harbor, to City Hall. It is approximately 7 tenths of a mile in length. These granite markers line the sidewalks on both sides of the street. They are 25 feet apart from one another and each one commemorates a ticker tape parade that took place throughout history. The parade route is located in the heart of the financial district surrounded by tall buildings. The 1st parade of its kind took place in 1886 for the dedication of the Statue of Liberty. Workers who were unable to attend the parade dumped ticker tape out of their windows to be a part of the festivities. The tradition has become part of what makes a ticker tape parade unique. These special parades have honored all sorts of VIPs, champions and heroes. Some include astronauts landing on the moon, sports champions and military heroes. This particular marker commemorates that on November 13th 1951 a ticker tape parade was held to honor Women in the Military for their significant contributions to our armed forces. #WomenInHistoryMonth #WomenInTheMilitary
