This will be the 1st time in 15 years that we won’t be gathering together to walk in support of survivors. But that doesn’t mean we can’t still come together virtually! Share your favorite Walk A Mile moment with us below, and let’s keep the love & support moving forward!!
ICYMI: News 4 WIVB Buffalo interviewed a few of Crisis Services Sexual & Domestic Violence Advocates at the 14th annual Walk A Mile. Check out the clip to learn why #WAM is such an important event in our community! https://www.wivb.com//ub-hosts-14th-annual-walk/1963154187
Come on over! Walk A Mile is getting started at Harriman Hall on UB’s South Campus!
Only a few days left until the big event! Now's the time to recruit your family and friends to join you for this year's walk. Need a few talking points? Below are a few stats that demonstrate the scope of these issues in our own community, and how much your recruitment and fundraising efforts benefit Crisis Services so that they are able to provide these necessary services: - In 2018, the Advocate Department of Crisis Services provided crisis intervention and immediate suppor...t to over 780 survivors of domestic violence, and to 320 survivors of sexual assault who presented in Erie County Emergency Departments for care. - Crisis Services Advocate Department operates the New York State Sexual and Domestic Violence Hotline on behalf of OPDV as well as local county hotlines. We answered over 12,000 hotline calls last year. Don't forget to share out your fundraising link, or use your lunch break today to call a few friends and encourage them to join you on Sunday!
Let us know if we can count on your support this year!
Today's fact: Every 92 seconds, an American is sexually assaulted. We all have the ability to play a part in preventing these acts from occurring. One way to do that is to help others become aware of this issue. You can help us accomplish this by simply sharing this post, inviting your friends and loved ones to this year's event, or sharing your personalized fundraising link! It also helps to familiarize yourself with the definition of sexual assault, to not only understand the problem as a whole but to also share with others the small acts in which they can engage to help make a difference!
Two weeks to go! In honor of this year's event, we're going to share facts and figures not only as a reminder of why we host this outstanding event, but to help spread awareness of the realities of these issues in our Buffalo community. Fact #1: This year's Walk A Mile is the 14th that we have hosted here in our community. That means it'll be the 14th year we have the opportunity to support our Crisis Services Advocate Program! If you haven't already done so, take the time to...day to create your fundraising page. (Hint: it'll take you less than 14 minutes!). Visit this link to set up your Network for Good account today, and start sharing your customized fundraising link. Remember - we give our prizes to our top fundraisers! https://crisis-services.networkforgood.com//70167-walk-a-m
