Webster Volunteer Fire Department 06.01.2021

Congratulations and best wishes on your retirement, Chief!

Webster Volunteer Fire Department 25.12.2020

Your Webster Volunteer Firefighters have had a busy and productive year! Here are some stats from 2020: -The Webster Volunteer Fire Department responded to 999 calls. -We have approx. 60 active members including interior firefighters, exterior firefighters, fire police, and explorers. -We responded to 25 mutual aid calls to neighboring departments.... -36 fires in structures -98 motor vehicle accidents -252 automatic alarms -220 EMS/rescues -3 vehicle fires We are a 100% volunteer department. None of our members are paid for the time they put in to serve the Webster community. Our members attended countless hours of training on our scheduled drill nights alone. Several members elect to take extra classes to advance their knowledge in several subject areas related to fire service and emergency medical service. We are your neighbors, mechanics, teachers, bus drivers, computer technicians, construction workers, retirees, students, family members, and friends. Thank you for your support. We look forward to serving the Webster community in 2021!

2020 Parade of Lights

Webster Volunteer Fire Department 20.11.2020

We have been having a great time seeing everyone at the Parade of Lights! We understand that there is quite a wait to get in to the event. We (and the event organizers) greatly appreciate everyone's patience with the volunteers who have been working so hard to bring a bit of light (pun fully intended) to the community! Photo by J. On Thanksgiving evening Webster firefighters were dispatched for the report of a barn fire in the area of 300 Phillips Rd. Firefighters responded immediately as they were returning from 2 previous alarms in the District. The District Chief went on scene reporting heavy fire from a 2 story structure with additional exposures in imminent danger and requested a 2nd alarm. Firefighters went to work protecting the exposures while working to extinguish the fire in the structure of ...origin. A large 2 story barn-like structure became well involved. This structure contained a 2 story apartment and 2 car garage. An aggressive interior attack held the fire to the apartment and prevented further spread to the main residence less than 3 feet away. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Monroe County Fire Bureau. Assistance on scene was provided by West Webster FD, Ridge Culver FD, Penfield FD, Fairport FD, Brighton FD, Webster Ambulance and NEQ ALS. Lincoln FD, Ontario FD, and Brighton FD provided coverage to the District.

A Christmas Classic: In the Webster, NY Fire Department is this amazing 1878 Squirrel-Tail hand pumper manufactured in Seneca Falls, NY by Rumsey & Company f...or the Williamson Fire Department back in the day. In 1908 the Webster Fire Department purchased the pumper and today it’s beautifully showcased here not far from the modern day firefighting equipment. Hard to imagine this would be pulled to fires, hooked up to a water supply and used to extinguish the blaze. Several years ago, Webster volunteer firefighter Dan Heiligman meticulously restored this classic to its luster, putting in over 400 hours and leaving nothing unturned. Thank you to Steven Small, Executive Director of the North East Joint Fire District, for bringing me up close to this classic. Dedicating this post to the memories of firefighters Mike Chiapperini and Tomasz Kaczowka who lost their lives in the tragic events of Christmas Eve 2012 in West Webster, NY. See more
