The Chiefs, Officers, and Members of the Westbury Fire Department would like to express our deepest condolences to our district mechanic and his family on the loss of their son, Connor. Rest In Peace, young man.

On Friday, July 24, 2020, at approximately 9:15 pm , Matthew Davis and another individual were crossing Prospect Ave near the intersection of Magnolia Ave in Ne...w Cassel when they were struck by a small foreign vehicle. After both individuals were hit, this vehicle left the scene traveling westbound on Prospect Ave. Matthew received numerous injuries which included a serious head injury which still causes paralysis to his left side. The Nassau County Police Homicide Squad currently has an open investigation to identify the individual who was operating this vehicle and left the scene of a accident with serious injury to Matthew and a leg injury to another victim. The Homicide Squad is currently working on and the investigation is ongoing. If anyone has information on this case they can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential. Below is County Executive Laura Curran, Commissioner of Police Patrick J Ryder, Former Nassau County Legislator Robert Troiano as well as other elected officials, Matthew Davis with his Mother Leslie and friends and family. The Donated funds will be used to renovate Matthew's residence so that it is more ADA Compliant (Americans with Disabilities Act). The Chiefs, Officers and Members of the Westbury Fire Department regret to announce the passing of Exempt Member Michael Doc Brown, who was a member of Hose 1 and Hook and Ladder. Mike was a fireman with FDNY as well but still wanted to do more, he went back to school and became a Doctor. He wrote a book "What brothers do" about looking for his brother Captain Paddy Brown after 9/11. Mike dedicated his life to help others. He is now in heaven with his brother Paddy and wife Janet. Mike is survived by his sister Carolyn and Brother in law Richard, Member of Hook and Ladder. May he Rest In Peace.
