Happy Thursday West Chelsea family: meet Candace! Candace has been an LVT (licensed veterinary technician) since 1995 and has worked with us at WCV since June of 2004! In 2015, she became specialized in dentistry and is now an LVT, VTS (veterinary technician specialist)! She is dedicated to advancing dentistry knowledge here at WCV. She has a vast knowledge base of dental diseases to help educated our clients on the importance of oral health and explain potential doctor perfo...rmed treatments. Hey West Chelsea Family!!! Meet Katrina! When she isn’t knitting matching sweat bands for herself and our patients, you’ll find her being hands on with all of the animals. She loves being able to work directly with the all the fur babies that walk through the door. She particularly likes placing intravenous catheters because she knows the patient will get intravenous medications to immediately help them feel better. She also enjoys phlebotomy because finding out what’s wrong... is half the battle and blood can tell us a lot! Katrina is responsible for making sure the sick kitties and doggies are being well taken care of when they’re with her. Hi West Chelsea fam- Meet Jen! She’s a licensed veterinary technician and has been with us since March, 2015! She finds herself enjoying surgical procedures at WCV, where she’s responsible for properly monitoring your fur baby while they’re under anesthesia. This includes their overall safety while the doctor performs the surgical procedure. To mention a few responsibilities, she’s monitoring their heart rate, understanding electrocardiogram readings, capnography, taking blo...od pressures throughout, maintaining intravenous fluids, troubleshooting if anything seems amiss, and ensuring smooth and safe induction and recovery. Jen is the first one your little one sees when waking from anesthesia- she’s usually greeted with a wagging tail! She also loves camping with her pup Pixie on her days off! We light candles, we fire-up the wood stove, bust out the electric blankets, and leave the crock-pot on all day long. We wanted to share a friendly reminder to pet-proof your house, especially if you have curious critters.
