October is Domestic Violence Awareness month. This issue is a common factor that leads people to homelessness, including women who come to The Bowery Mission in need of care. Tomorrow, our Associate Director of Clinical Services, Asa Scott, will represent The Bowery Mission on a panel discussion with our friends at Reveal Beauty. We're grateful for Asa's dedication to our community and her experience, including as a NYS Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC). Tune in tomorrow to learn from Asa and other experts Thursday, October 22, at 6 p.m.: https://bit.ly/3ohaTxV #DVAM #domesticviolenceawareness
Thanks to your compassion, Ella has been able to envision a plan for her future and looks forward to independent living! See more stories and photos from our recent Women’s Graduation here: https://bit.ly/2IwYDJ3
Volunteers needed! A vital aspect of our Compassionate Care program is the clothing room at our Bowery Campus. Tasks include organizing, cleaning and interacting with staff. Your help will enable our emergency shelter guests to receive clean clothing during their stay at The Bowery Mission. Thank you for serving! No marathon, no fundraiser? No way! Big thanks to our Bowery Running Friends (including members of #TeamBoweryMission from the #tcsnycmarathon) who are showing their dedication to the Mission and our neighbors in need by organizing their own run in #NYC. Join us in cheering them on And you can help them reach their $50,000 fundraising goal by November 1st: https://my.bowery.org/halfmarathon2020 #fundraisingfriday
Despite these uncertain times, we kept our tradition of celebrating the women in our community who have made significant progress in their goals of growth towards independence! Congratulations on reaching these milestones! They have overcome different challenges such as homelessness, loss and addiction. In The Bowery Mission’s Residential & Community Programs, they collaborated with our staff to develop individualized goals and action plans to make progress towards independence. We have been amazed by God’s work in these women through their breakthroughs and accomplishments over the past year. See more stories and photos from the event here: https://bit.ly/2IwYDJ3
Thank you for standing with The Bowery Mission as we continue to stand with our vulnerable neighbors. We are praying for you! #FriendsOfTheMission
Our friends from Colgate-Palmolive joined us for a virtual lunch and learn recently on #ColgateCaresDay to discover more about the work of The Bowery Mission in caring for New Yorkers experiencing homelessness and hunger. The group showed their love by writing cards of encouragement for our guests! We're grateful for their continued support of our community. Thank you to the Bowery Jazz Messengers for marking #WorldHomelessDay this past Saturday with us at our Bowery campus! Though these times may be difficult, especially for our neighbors facing hunger and homelessness, this group of talented high school students wanted to lift up spirits and bring encouragement to the community during our meal service. Can't wait to see these #FriendsOfTheMission back with us for another set! Watch the story here: https://newyork.cbslocal.com/2020/10/10/bowery-mission-jazz/

Nearly 80,000 people are experiencing homelessness right now in #NewYorkCity. That’s 1 in every 106 people in our city. Share this post to tell others about the growing need and invite them this #WorldHomelessDay (tomorrow, Oct 10th) to join you in the fight against homelessness!
Yesterday, we received our beautiful new, refrigerated van from our friends at Whole Foods Market as part of the Nourishing Our Neighborhoods program! This van will increase our capacity to rescue both perishable and non-perishable food throughout #NewYorkCity. Thank you Whole Foods for partnering with us since 2009, and for the high-quality food we can recover to nourish our hungry neighbors. Karl Chan
We our volunteers! Thank you Uzo Aduba for serving breakfast with us to care for our neighbors fighting hunger, homelessness and other crises. We're grateful for your support! If you are healthy and interested in joining us, please visit: https://bit.ly/3iM6nUc
Working through hardship! "It’s scary. You don’t know what will happen," Ken shares about sleeping on the streets. But through our housing readiness program, he's receiving shelter, meals and critical support as he gets back on his feet! Read Ken's full story.
