Bruin Recycling 11.12.2020

Everyone could use a little extra cheer this year, but once the gifts are unwrapped, do you know what to do with that heaping pile of boxes, bags, and bows? Me...tallic, glitter or foil-lined gift boxes, gift bags and wrapping paper go in the trash along with tissue paper, ribbons and bows. Plain gift boxes, gift bags and wrapping paper can go in your recycling bin. Head to our website to find more holiday recycling tips.

One of the best ways to find peace & gratitude for what you have is by helping others. Needless to say, this year I need that peace more than ever. I’ve decide...d to continue our tradition of hosting a Christmas party for the families at the Salvation Army Emergency Shelter. The party will be Monday, Dec. 17. For those of you who don’t know, this party is for the families who will be at the emergency shelter over the holidays, which is an especially hard time of year to be homeless. Every year, Bruin throws a big party with food, presents, games, music and Santa. For some people staying at the shelter, this is the only Christmas celebration they get, so we like to make it special. Everyone gets presents for themselves plus practical gifts to help restart their lives when they leave the shelter. There are typically about 70 moms, dads and children at the shelter on Christmas. Bruin will provide the bulk of the gifts, but so many have asked how they can help; we welcome support and have a list of kitchen starter sets, family games, and many other things that can help the families have a nice Christmas and a jump on rebuilding their lives. If you can buy some gifts or make a monetary donation, you’ll be helping to make a huge impact in people’s lives at a time of the year where it’s really tough to be down and out. I’ve received so much love and support over the last few months and now it’s time to pass it on. Please sign up to purchase a gift/s. We also need a few volunteers to help out with food, wrapping, etc. ***Click on the picture below. It will take you to the sign-up sheet. Jump in, claim a gift, purchase it, and mark it done-that’s all you have to do! In the meantime you can email [email protected] for a complete list of gifts to purchase and other ways to help. Thanks for helping make this a special Christmas for these families! **Gifts must be delivered to Bruin by Wednesday, December 12 **Monetary gifts are much appreciated; please get them to Bruin or Jon ASAP, but no later than Tuesday, December 11. Or: PayPal to [email protected] Thank you! Jon
