The officers and members of IAFF local 4971 send our condolences to the families of the 7 members of the New York Air National Guard, who gave their lives defending this Great Nation last night in Iraq when their helicopter crashed, killing all 7 on board. We also would like to send our condolences to the Commack Fire Department and the New York City Fire Department. Flight Engineer Chris Raguso, was an officer of both departments. Please keep these hero’s and their families in your thoughts and prayers. God Bless America

On 8/16/2017 at 1120hrs, Fire Rescue was alerted via the Crash Phone, for an aircraft on Rwy 33L with a flat tire after landing. Rescue 1 and Rescue 80 responded to assist the aircraft. After the tire was changed, the aircraft cleared the field under its own power. No one was injured during the incident. Airport Fire Chief Cinotti was in charge of the alarm.

Earlier today, Frontier Airline had its first of many arrivals and departures from Long Island MacArthur Airport. The Airport Fire Rescue crew on duty gave the arriving flight a water curtain. Congratulations to ISP and Frontier Airlines.

The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds have departed ISP. After another successful Jones beach air show, the ground crews are loading up all of the equipment to head home. It is always a pleasure to spend the weekend with the team. MacArthur Airport Fire Rescue IAFF Local 4971 would like to that all of the men and women of the United States Armed Forces for their dedicated service. Happy Memorial Day

MacArthur Airport Fire-Rescue placed a new first responder 3-22-80 into service today.
