Women's Caucus for Art of Greater Washington, DC Changing the World: Women Role Models is now up to view from now to June 30! The goal of this exhibition is to honor and highlight the women in our lives that have impacted us directly and indirectly that helped to shape us into the women we are today. This could range from family, friends, educators, politicians, writers, clergy, scientists, artists, and entertainers in traditional and nontraditional roles. We are living in a time where women are making huge strides in their perspective fields. With November 3rd right around the corner, Tomashi Jackson’s timely collage works unpack American myth by weaving together complex narratives that highlight the ways in which illusions of democracy and equity exist in a system designed to oppress. Jackson’s artistic process and final works make visible the convergences between the past and present, patterns in experiences of public space, and frames issues of governance, policy, and law through people’s lived experience. https://www.artnews.com//tomashi-jackson-interview-123457/

As two bills were passed by Congress in early October to better address the epidemic of violence Indiengous women face, a new exhibition of photographs and other artwork organized by the Ziibiwing Centre of Anishinabe Culture and Lifeways in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, brings additional awareness to the issue. "Boontak! (Stop It!): Stolen Daughters of Turtle Island" is on view online and at the center until May 5. The photographs of Indigenous women taken by photographer Marcella Hadden remind viewers what it means to be an ally, and how important it is to continue to participate in the grassroots efforts supporting the movement to protect Indigenous women. https://www.theartnewspaper.com/n/mmiwg-exhibition-michigan
