October 6-12 is National PA Week where we celebrate the contributions of the physician assistants here at NYASC to the health and well-being of our patients. Today, we celebrate Toni. With 22 years of practicing as a PA, she has gained a great deal of experience where she takes great pride in her career. She switched from practicing general surgery, (where she also covered orthopedics, urology and trauma) to care for asthma, allergy and immunology patients since her children... had asthma, seasonal as well as severe multiple anaphylactic food allergies. She made that switch so that she could stay on top of this area of medicine and help others as she does her own children. -- She did her daughter's own food challenges with milk and eggs at home and happy to say she no longer has food allergies. Toni finds herself to be extremely thorough and caring in which she gives her patients the time they need to express their concerns so that she may address each one of them. She loves being a PA and feels that it shows with the detail oriented care that she provides. -- Fun Fact: Toni does her own vaccine and allergy shots!
