New York City Master Chorale

Every year at the end of the season, we come together to celebrate the music we’ve made, recognize the incredible people who collectively make the NYC Master Chorale such as special organization, and share some space (virtually). Last night, we also got to re-live seven years of Dusty-Isms and be reminded once more of just what an indelible impact the fantastic Dusty Francis has had in his many years (and many roles) with our group. Thanks to our singers for another fantastic year, to our community for all of your support, and to Dusty, for everything.

It’s time for a shoutout in celebration of a very special member of the NYCMC community - accompanist extraordinaire Laura Barger!!! Not only is Laura a phenomenal pianist and a co-founder of the group Yarn/Wire, she is also a wonderfully kind, patient, and adaptable person. She kept playing with NYCMC all spring, somehow masterfully controlling all manner of technology so we could hear and sing along with her through Zoom and Jamulus from far and wide. THANK YOU, Laura!! Wednesday’s concert (and years of in-person performances past) wouldn’t be possible without you.

NYCMC sticks together whether near, far, in person, or on a screen, and many of our members enjoyed participating in the West Village Chorale's summer sing last week, led by our very own Artistic Director Dusty Francis! If you're also craving music, community, and more, consider auditioning (virtually) to join us for our upcoming season (all rehearsals, social gatherings, and other meetings will be online until at least January 2021)! Auditions will be held on August 12th and 26th, with additional dates added as necessary.

One way we’ve kept our community strong while we can’t come together is through sharing some #nycmcquarantunes in virtual open mic nights! We’re excited to share some of them with you now, and first up is Let It Be, from Faith, John, and Howard.

UPDATE: We are sorry to share that the New York Chorus Festival, scheduled for Wednesday (3/11/20) at Carnegie Hall, has been canceled for this year. We hope to have the opportunity to sing with these wonderful artists next year, and thank you all for your understanding.
