Otsego Dance Society 07.12.2020

As the board of directors discussed cancelling this Friday's dance, we realized how much we'll miss seeing all our friends and dancing with them. So, in case you're having 'contradance withdrawal', here's a video of one of our dances from last year. And when 7:30 on Friday comes around, put on some dance music and do a dance or 2 with your family members! Meanwhile, everyone keep safe, stay home for now, and hopefully we'll be dancing again soon! .

Tonight's dance should be a unique one, with Quickstep members John and Trish sharing the calling and adding vocals to their music. And remember, beginners can arrive at 7:15 for a short intro to some contradance steps. Hope to see you later. March Contradance with Quickstep

Our band for the March dance is Quickstep, a well-known duo performing world-wide and made up of John Kirk and Trish Miller. John plays a variety of instruments including fiddle, mandolin, banjo, ukelele and keyboard. Trish.also plays guitar and banjo and does vocals. Their music is rooted in traditional styles from the northeast woodlands to the southern mountains of the United States. Joining John and Trish for our dance will be Joel Rosenberger, a member of the Saratoga Pan Celtic session, who plays piano accordion and Celtic harp. John and Trish will be sharing the calling duties, offering their vast backgrounds as callers, singers, teachers, and dancers to lead the evening dance. You can find out more about them on their website https://johnandtrish.com March Contradance with Quickstep

As you've probably already guessed, we are CANCELLING the FEB 7th contradance tonight. The weather we are already experiencing and the predictions for later tonight make it too dangerous for our dancers and performers to venture into town. Watch for the rescheduling of this dance and hopefully we'll see you at our next dance on March 6th.
