With portions of town receiving a substantial amount of snow this weekend, it is even more important than ever to help the Fire Departments help you. If you have a fire hydrant in front of your home or business, please help keep them clear. Seconds matter
A band of heavy lake effect snow with 2-3" per hour snowfall rates and very low visibility will continue across Buffalo, the immediate southern and eastern suburbs, and western Genesee County through late morning. The band may drift north another few miles by midday.
Lake effect snow continues off of both Lakes Erie and Ontario this morning. 1 to 2 inch per hour snowfall rates are possible within the bands. See the graphic for current positioning of the bands. Bands are expected to remain stationary today.
The Town of Hamburg is seeking public input on their Comprehensive Plan. Follow the link to provide your input.

Thank you to the Village of Hamburg and Scranton Fire Departments for their assistance this morning taking down 2 100’ Towers that have served the Town of Hamburg Public Safety Dispatch Office and surrounding communities for over 60 years. These 2 towers were replaced by one 200’ tower a few years ago. Firefighters were able to train on aerial operations, communication skills, as well as utilizing various saws and equipment to facilitate this project.
Hoping this is the solution to the problem experienced for years along this stretch of Rt5.
Halloween Message Town Supervisor Jim Shaw Village of Hamburg Mayor Tom Moses Village of Blasdell Mayor Rob Hefner... Saturday October 31st, is Halloween with our traditional recognition of trick-or-treating, which hopefully can occur between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. that evening. Our annual Halloween trick-or-treat tradition is a highly anticipated event for all Hamburg families. We have established a happy tradition of Halloween fun for the young and young at heart. However, in this COVID-19 season some families may feel it necessary to re-think traditional Halloween plans. Your decision is entirely your own to make. According to CDC guidelines related to COVID-19 trick-or-treating is considered a high risk activity. If your family decides to trick-or-treat in the traditional manner this year you may want to consider some safety precautions: 1. Make sure that trick-or-treaters wear a protective mask and check to ensure that each child can breathe comfortably. 2. Limit the group size of children and adult chaperones. It may be better to keep trick-or-treating groups to just siblings or a close friend or two. 3. Keep a safe distance between any trick-or-treaters outside of your group, and maintain a safe social distance for all concerned. 4. Those distributing candy should wear face masks and gloves when greeting/handing out candy to trick-or-treaters. If possible greet the trick-or-treaters on your porch or at your front walk to minimize contact with hard surfaces. 5. Carry and use hand sanitizer as needed for the benefit of the trick-or-treaters and their parents or chaperones. 6. Some homeowners may not wish to participate in Halloween activities. If that is the case, it is recommended that those homeowners keep their outside lights off as a signal to the adult chaperones and to the trick-or-treaters. If CDC guidelines change between now and Halloween we will notify you so that you may be fully apprised of all of the relevant guidance from our State and County Health Departments. In the meantime thank you very much for your anticipated cooperation. Tom Moses Mayor, Village of Hamburg Rob Hefner Mayor, Village of Blasdell Jim Shaw Hamburg Town Supervisor
