Today Hispanic heritage spotlight is Wendy Diaz! Wendy Díaz is a Puerto Rican writer, award-winning poet, translator, children's book author, and mother of 5. She is the co-founder and director of Hablamos Islam, Inc., a non-profit organization producing educational resources about the Islamic religion and culture in the Spanish language. Wendy is the recipient of the 2012 New America Media Fellowship for Journalists Writing About Immigrant Women and the May Roswell Award for... Excellence in Writing. She is the creator and voice of Ahmed El Titeriti (Ahmed, the puppet) from the children's show, "Hablamos Islam con Ahmed," on Youtube. Her bilingual children's books have been distributed in more than 10 Spanish-speaking countries while her online children's programming has been viewed in over 40 countries. She is also the Spanish content coordinator for ICNA-WhyIslam and a MuslimMatters columnist, as well as a contributor to numerous online and print ethnic media publications.

Today Hispanic Heritage comes from Uruguay! Mary Hobbas, also known by her Islamic name, Khadija, has been a Muslim for nine years. She has been married for 17 years to her amazing husband and they together have raised five talented sons and a grandson. We visited Hillside Islamic Center yesterday for jummah and brought a special guest from Madinah!

Today hero is none other than brother Kashif Hussain! Kashif is the founder of Pakistani American Youth Society. The PAYS has done great work in 2020 which include serving 100,000+ hot halal meals in less than 100 days. Had covid-19 testing sites. Celebrated a non discriminatory Eid with all brothers and sisters in humanity. Addressed issues pertaining to food insecurities, rent relief, job employments, long term food relief, and psychological and mental health issues stemming out of COVID-19 pandemic crisis. They have also teamed up with Muslims Giving Back , local businesses and elected officials to have a larger impact. Today we honor our hero Kashif Hussain!
