Manhattan *10-77* Box 0973. Location: 65 Central Park West off W 66 St. Fire apt 14E 16-story 150x100 Earlier today, Engine 40 & Ladder 35 arrived first due t...o a 10-77 fire in a Class 2 building. Members made their way into the apartment building with little to no visibility. Upon entry, Lt Rotanz and FF Gladstone did a right-hand search and FF Leonor conducted a left-hand search. About 15 feet into the apartment, FF Leonor passed the kitchen where the fire was, and immediately discovered the 10-45 unconscious, but gasping for air. Upon this discovery, he grabbed and pulled the unconscious victim out the same way they came in, past the kitchen into the hall, down the stairs to safety, and then handed him off to the OV, FF Depognon. E40 advanced the line in and extinguished the fire led by the nozzleman, FF Jablonowski. Another great job by FDNY members in Manhattan!
Please help honor our fallen brother Ray Pfeifer by supporting the foundation set up by members of the firehouse and his family. Below is a link to purchase a memorial shirt of bracelet that will benefit. Donations are also being accepted and are 100% tax deductible. Theraypfeiferfoundation.org
Happy Birthday in heaven Michael Lynch
Michael D. D'Auria was considered a fabulous chef by other noteworthy cooks among the firefighters of Engine Company 40 and Ladder Company 35. "One of the guys ...told us that whenever they saw Michael's name on the board, they knew they were going to eat good that night," said his mother, Nancy Marra. She remembers fielding an urgent phone message for him from the firehouse one night, the caller in search of a recipe for one of his sauces. Firefighter D'Auria was one of nine firefighters on his mother's side of the family, and had trained as a chef. He was known, too, for his tattoos, which included St. Michael the archangel, St. Anthony and the Serenity Prayer surrounded by cherubs. Mrs. Marra recalls a long conversation her son had with his sister, Christina Rinaldi, in April 2001. "He told her that when he dies, it's going to be in a big way, and it's going to change the world. Michael had become very spiritual in the last two years, and he read a lot of books. I really down deep feel he just had a feeling about it." After earning 100 percent on the Fire Department's written and physical tests, Mr. D'Auria had been on the job nine weeks. The World Trade Center was his second fire. New York Times Published: August 25, 2002 D’Auria, Michael #FDNY #Our911Bravest #NeverForget
