It's President's Day! "For today American agriculture is in the grip of a technological revolution as vast and as rapid as any in history. It is a revolution, which has made the American farmer the most efficient in history." Which of our American Presidents made this quote? Have a guess? Add it to the comments. ... Want to get the answer and read a few more? Check out this neat article from the folks at @farmpolicyfacts (link in comments) #PresidentsDay #farmlove #adkfarms

Today is #MakeaFriend day and these two hit it off so well that not only did they calve on the same day last week, but they calved at the same exact time! That's some #farmlove right there, for sure. #adkfarms #undeniablydairy

Everyone, meet Katie. Katie is one of our herd managers and she loves the cows, or "the girls" as she calls them. She is sitting here snuggling with one of the girls who just had to go through a surgical procedure. Katie crouched down to give her some recovery scratches and this big mama cow leaned her head in for a hug. When asked what her favorite part about working with the ladies, Katie shares that it's "definitely interacting with all of their individual personalities. T...hey are all unique and I feel like I get to make a new friend every day. The most important thing to me when caring for them is that they are happy. When I see them running around, playing, I know they have everything they need and can just enjoy being a cow. If I have to work an extra half hour just so a sick cow gets some extra attention, I am happy to be there for her." We all thank you for your #farmlove and dedication, Katie! I'm sure the cows thank you too! #adkfarms #adkstrong #undeniablydairy #saturdayvibes

Here's a little video that describes the why... https://youtu.be/JE9pYzdbhgk... You may remember Princess, our donut-loving cow ! Well she's our #MondayMoo this week so we can share a little more about her with you. Princess is 5 years old and on her third lactation. She currently makes 164 pounds (about 19 gallons) of each day. At only 70 days into this lactation, she's already made over 10,000 pounds (about 1,163 gallons) of ! She has one daughter in the herd, and a grand-calf on the way. Princess's favorite activity is trying new foods, but her ...favorites are donuts and Cheetos! Thank you, Princess! #farmlove #adkfarms #undeniablydairy

Today's #MondayMoo is brought to you by Smokey and her mom! Smokey's mom is the cow laying down, apparently getting some secret info from a new herdmate! I think you can tell where Smokey gets her gorgeous looks from! #farmlove #adkfarms #adkstrong

We are the roots that nourish. Every food hero plays a role. We need to feed the world. The time has come, to build back better. Together we can make a difference.... To lives and communities everywhere. We need a sustainable food system. Because we are all one. Grow, Nourish, Sustain. Together. Our Actions are our Future. At Adirondack Farms, we are doing our best to keep the future of agriculture in mind as we give care to our cows, land, and community. #WorldFoodDay #Foodheroes

We sent a few heifers out to a farm that specializes in raising heifers this week. The ride went well, and they are all getting settled in at their new home for the time being. Again, we are so thankful for people stepping up to help, rearranging schedules, rolling up their sleeves, and caring. #farmlove #adkfarms #adkstrong

"Many hands make light work" - John Heywood Today is #NationalFarmersDay and we would be remiss if we didn't pause to recognize our community of farmers that kept us going "business as usual" this past week. Even working through the aftermath of our fire, we finished corn harvest for 2020. One of the biggest job is to cover the silage pile, and it requires many hands. We are so thankful to those who stepped up to help and see us through. #farmlove #adkfarms #adkstrong

Two nights ago, we experienced a terrible fire at one of our locations in Beekmanton. While no people were injured, sadly we lost two of our barns and several cattle. As people who dedicate our lives to the well-being of our cows, we are devastated. We want to say thank you to everyone for all of their help over the past couple of days - from the firefighters who fought the blaze, our local community members who came to our assistance, our fellow farmers and farm supporters ...who reached out, and of course all of our employees who are pitching in a bit extra now. This calf, who we call "Smokey", is the first calf born after the fire - her dam was at the farm where the fire happened, and was one of the first moved to our farm in Peru. This calf doesn't know how special she is - she represents our hope, a hope for a better tomorrow. #farmlove #ADKFarms #ADKStrong

Today is World Farm Animal Day, and we're going to share a little bit about how much we love our cows. There's an old saying in our business, "Take care of the cows, and they'll take care of you!" So, thank you, girls, we'll keep doing our best for you. #farmlove #adkfarms #undeniablydairy

Today's #WednesdayWisdom brought to you by the weaned calves. My grandfather always said "To have a friend, you must be one." I'm not sure if that quote actually originated with him, but it sure resonates with me! And our calves. #farmlove #adkfarms #undeniablydairy

Here at Adirondack Farms, our vision is "a world where everyone has enough to eat." With that in mind, September is #HungerActionMonth. We were trying to think of what we could do to help, and here's what we came up with: 1) For each share this post gets, we will donate $5 (up to $250), to our local Joint Council for Economic Opportunity of Clinton and Franklin Counties food pantry.... 2) We want to let you know that you can donate to The Great American Milk Drive anytime. $5 buys a gallon of milk to put on the shelf at your local Feeding America food pantry. https://milklife.com/give/donate We know this is just a small act and there is much need. We hope you'll consider helping, too. #farmlove #adkfarms #UndeniablyDairy
