The FFD always urges families to pay attention to home fire safety. The link to Syracuse.com below is a perfect example how the simple act of planning for emergencies can make a HUGE difference! https://syracusepoststandard-ny.newsmemory.com/
It is very common for DeWitt, Manlius and Fayetteville to respond mutual aid to each other's calls. An additional cooperative effort is the Duty Chief Program where a Chief from any of the three Departments will be the duty chief for all three service areas. Pictured here is Manlius Chief Jansen Casscles (left) and Fayetteville Chief Paul Hildreth. Not pictured are DeWitt Chief Jason Green, Fayetteville Deputy Chief Jeb Benzing and Manlius Deputy Chief Greg Van Dyke. The shifts are 12 or 24 hours and allow each Chief to work with all three Departments.
On an overcast and cold weekend day the duty crew took the opportunity to train on hydrant hook ups with new volunteer member Cody Granger (left, at the hydrant). Firefighter/EMT John Laakso led the training evolutions (center) as firefighters (left to right) McCue, Wojtowych, Kitzel and Granger participated.

Congratulations Peter Tynan 2020 marks the tenth anniversary of Ambulance Operator Pete Tynan’s dedicated service to the FFD (pictured here on the right at one of the Department’s last pre-covid gatherings at the Station). Thank you Peter and congratulations.
Thanks to Chief of Fire Paul Hildreth....who recognized ALL the FFD members this month with his Member of the Month award. The Chief noted the efforts made by members to continue to provide outstanding service throughout this time of pandemic. New protocols, safety precautions and potential exposures to covid-19 have added extra work and extra stress for most of 2020. The Chief picked up meals for duty crews as a way to say thanks to all members.
Professional Recognitions Fayetteville Fire enjoys the service of many long-tenured members. Congratulations to Dave Masiclat, Nate Baker, and Mike Grevelding, Jr.
Congratulations Zoe! Chief Paul Hildreth presents volunteer member Zoe Faley with her official FFD badge. During this time of the covid virus the Department has been unable to hold its usual regular, in-person meetings so the Chief is presenting badges and awards individually.
Congratulations Erich Schepp When volunteer member Erich Schepp isn't responding with the FFD as a firefighter he is an executive with Schepp Family Funeral Homes. Check out the link below as Erich is recognized by the Central New York Business Journal as part of this year's class of "40 Under Forty". https://www.cnybj.com/2020-40-under-forty-awards/
